Sometimes it just doesn't work out in relationships, not because 1 person did something necessarily wrong to their partner, but because one of them just happens to be a self-destructive idiot & chooses to end a good thing! But when they're honest about it later...it's hard to be mad at them. This song's lyrics were about a guy who ran into his ex, & remembered all the times he did the wrong thing & was telling her that he knew he blew it, but it was to be expected. Basically: I know you know, but It wasn't you, it was me. Sorry.
